Ground Beetle Pattern

Super productive beetle pattern and terrestrial dry fly for trout EVERYWHERE. We even fish these on mountain lakes for giant cutthroat, not just in the river.

While beetles are found much everywhere on earth, this pattern is our #1 dry fly for trips to Patagonia. Chile and Argentina offer fisheries where the trout are highly reliant on terrestrial food sources, like the famous Cantaria Beetle. The large #6 size is fished when the largest beetles are present, which happens every other year. The smaller patterns, like the #10 make excellent Dung Beetles which fish extremely well at any time but especially well on spring creeks. We simply LOVE this pattern.
