Gabriel’s Trumpet – Black is a well-known pattern originated by a fellow Washingtonian and fly fishing/tying legend, Skip Morris. The original Gabriel’s Trumpet – Black – was gold in color, but we like this black version as an imitator of many dark varieties of mayflies and small stoneflies. Fish it any time of year, especially on rivers with dark bottoms and good numbers of stoneflies.
