When the golden stoneflies start hatching around May to Mid-July, the El Camino – Golden may be the fly of the day. The El Camino is tied with a mixture buggy looking dubbing and foam and the result is a natural looking dry fly with “no floatant necessary” floatation. Easy to see on the water, the El Camino would also be a good dry fly choice when using a dropper underneath it… like a little PMD nymph or caddis pupa.
